NEO Fit info session #2 – March 23 at 7pm

Join us at Barnes and Noble in Montrose – 4015 Medina Rd, Akron, OH 44333 on March 23 at 7pm to meet the coaches and learn all about our training programs – 5K, 10K, half and full marathon. Winter running

It’s important to wear reflective clothing when running outside in the darkness of winter. Figuring out what to wear with the varying temperatures is hard enough, but make sure you add a reflective item so you are visible to drivers.

Congrats to all of the runners who tackled the Blue Line 20 mile or 12 mile run on Saturday! It was a great way to see the Akron Marathon course. Thank you to all of the NEO Fit volunteers to staff two of the four water stops. Thank you also to the Akron Marathon and Green YMCA training group who staffed the other two water stops.IMG_5011 (1)

Week 6

Very hot, beautiful sunny morning for a run today. The best part was the Akron Marathon Race Director, Brian Polen came out to tell us about about the Akron Children’s Hospital Akron Marathon Race Series.  And he even addressed the “jacket” question!  Thanks Brian for getting us all pumped up about the race series and reminding us what we are training for this summer.

Week 5

Another great run in the park today with the rain holding off until we were finished. Lots of hills were on the menu, but remember what goes up, must come down!  Next week the Akron Marathon will be coming to talk to the group, so it is not too late to join us. Registration will be open until early June.

Week 4

Smaller group this week as we had lots of people running the Cleveland marathon, half or 10K this weekend. NEO Fit runs in the rain, which we did a little bit of on Saturday.  We talked about when to drink water and when you need sports drink.  And we headed north on the towpath for the first time this season. Some people saw the bald eagle! Running in the rain isn’t that bad, but hopefully the rain will stay away next Saturday.

Week 3

Great turn out this morning! And a beautiful day to run in the park. Today was the first time some new members experienced the towpath at Station Road Bridge and the full beauty of the park and river.  We will be meeting at Station Road Bridge from now on.  Registration is open and new members are welcome!

Week 2

We had a great turn out this morning and the new members had the opportunity to experience the Harriett Keeler hill!  That really warmed everyone up.  The seminar was on hydration and how to carry fluid on you during a run. Thanks to all the NEO Fit members who showed off their hydration systems in a fashion show style all their own! First day of Training

We had a great first day of our 2016 training season!  Members should expect the weekly email soon with the training schedule for the week. If you missed us today, there is still time to join!  Next week will be another fun event and raffle – it will feel like you didn’t miss a thing!

Advanced Runner Program

It’s back again this year! The Advanced Runner program will be an additional day of training. Thursdays we will meet at 6:30pm for focused tempo runs and specific running strengthening.  Past members have found this additional day of training to enhance their training.  If you have questions please email info@neohiofit.com
